Fifth Anniversary Update

Image
Hello my friends, and welcome back to my blog. It was very recently the fifth anniversary of my podcast, and I released my first new episode for some time, and so I thought I might sit and take a look at what I have upcoming as I follow the anniversary and being to get back into the process of more regularly scheduled content. So let me please do my best to entice you with the things I have planned. A Brand New Project So firstly I need to introduce my brand new project. I am creating a series of what I'm calling Fandom Primers. I posted a short video enquiring about this project a while ago when I first got the idea, and the response was overwhelmingly positive, and so I'm deciding to use some of my prodigious yet obscure knowledge to provide people with a background and introduction to some incredible franchises. In some cases these are franchises that I have already spoken about before, in some they are franchises I have little to talk about besides using this chance to ...

Power Rangers All Killer, No Filler Watch Order Part 4 - End of An Era

Hello my friends! Welcome back to my blog, where today we will be completing the Watch Order for the entire Power Rangers franchise. As I've said before this is a franchise very dear to me and is one that its current owners Hasbro seem to have all but abandoned, which is a shame as several of the series we will talk about will be the ones that Hasbro actually oversaw, and many of them did things that many older fans of Power Rangers had been asking for for a long time, becoming quite well-liked as a result.  I'm also going to take the time here to talk about a couple of other things in Power Rangers that are very much worth discussing, and actually play some role in the ongoing development of the franchise going forwards.  Also while my opinion on some of the previous seasons have varied, I generally think all of these are of decent, if not very good quality, and as a result I have positive opinions of all of these shows and would describe most of them as well worth a watch, e...

Power Rangers All Killer, No Filler Watch Order Part 3 - The Experimental Era

Hello my friends! I hope you've all had a fantastic holiday! Welcome back to my blog, where we are continuing with our Power Rangers Franchise Watch Order to narrow down the best episodes for each season, so that if any of you out there want to sit and watch Power Rangers, either as a single season or as the entire franchise, then you have a more manageable list than either the 30-50 episodes per season, or the 973 episodes that the franchise contains overall. Like with the previous part of this Watch Order the majority of the seasons we are about to discuss are pretty standalone, with the exception of some crossovers that will feature returning characters. As a result you don't need to watch more than the one season in most cases.  However there are multiple seasons here that I think are well worth watching, and providing that you can accept some of the campier and cheesier elements that come with a season of superhero kids tv I think there are some very fun serialised storyli...

Power Rangers All Killer, No Filler Watch Order Part 2 - The Crossover Era

Hello my friends, and welcome back to my blog. Today I wanted to continue my Power Rangers Watch Order, as I try to highlight the very best Power Rangers episodes to watch from this entire 30 year franchise. This has become even more important to me as recent actions by Hasbro, including a Heritage Auction that saw the auctioning off of all props (from some kept in storage for decades to even the newest props created for the 2023 episodes) seems to have suggested that the franchise is effectively over, and that whatever form, if any, Power Rangers takes in the future it will not involve any existing live-action props. Obviously this is a rather ignominious end for one of my favourite and most beloved franchises, and so I want to do what I can to encourage others to experience some of this legacy for themselves, hence these Watch Orders. Unlike the first few years of the franchise, which featured a solid and ongoing continuity sharing several characters, allowing an evolution of the sto...
